Alert Helper

Alert Helper took over this job a ...LONG... time ago and yes it works with BBO v3.

Easiest way to find it is by googling aaBridge they are both on the same website.

ChatAssistant is now --- OBSOLETE ---

Yes, is free and will always be free. ChatAssistant takes over the job of the BBO Chat Box (on the Windows BBO app only). Please post any question or support issues in this thread.

New SlimMode option so it takes up a lot less room.

Roger, your program is great! :) The only flaw I have found is that when creating a team match, it automatically runs in the background, making it impossible to chat while a create team match or tournement screen is up. (I also have it set to bypass the bridge movie, if that might affect it). Is there a solution for this?

Yes - It should be easy to make this work the same way BBO chat works.

The issue is that the are two kinds of BBO pop-up dialogs. One's that I will allow BBo Chat and ones that won't and it best if ChatAssistant folows the BBO rules. So I currently only allow CA to "do chat" with a couple of known dialogs. So what I need to do is to add these new dialogs to CA's list of "known one's".

Please could you send me an email - roger (at) RogerPf.com - with an image capture of each of the dialogs that you know are allowed to show while you can do normal BBO chat.

I do need to be able to read the title bar in the image as well as a few other bits, then I can use that info to add them to CA's list.

many thanks.

I cannot install version 1730 after downloading. It says it can't delete some files.

My guess is that you have not exited the previous version. We all get so used to ChatAssistant running all the time.

Click the red x to close CA and try the install again.

There is now a Spell Checker that works well with Roger Pfister's excellent BBO authorized FREE Chat Assistant. It is TinySpell which can be configured to work with CA alone or almost all Windows programs (the default).

Both the free TinySpell and the pay TinySpell Plus versions work with CA and/or BBO Chat.

Hi Roger

Great program thanks for it

One observation though I tried 3.1 release 1736 and it just would not send my chat lines to the BBO chat.

So I removed that version and loaded 3.1 release 1730 and this works just fine

BIL Teachers and Mentors have found it a real boon Roger.

However now that the new teaching table facilities are available in the BBO Web-Client I have been encouraging them to use the Web-Client - the feedback is

"I can't use the Chat Assistant with the Web-Client"

I hope it won't be too long before BBO has a "Chat Assistant' style input system in the Web-Client so that you can create a version for the teachers and mentors to use there too.

Hi Roger

I am a new user of Chat Assistant ("CA") and I have a problem.
I run a weekly tournament and have created a set of messages to send out to the whole tournament.
Each message has the "Letter Button" set to 'T' with all other buttons switched off.
I use the 'Grid of Buttons' to send the message.

This all works perfectly.
Whether I am kibbing a table, or just loitering in the Tournament Lobby, the chosen message is broadcast to the whole tournament - magic - just what I want.

HOWEVER :

I often click on the Tournament <Table> button in order to, for example:
- Amend the round clock;
- Adjust a table result;
- See which tables have not finished the current round.
Having done what I need, I usually leave the <Table> window visible - ready for further amendments, etc.

NOW THEN :

CA stops working.
When I click a grid button - the message is not broadcast.
If I click the BBO window (once or twice, or more) to get focus, or click the CA windows to change focus - no message is broadcast.

BUT :

If I kill the <Table> window CA starts working again - perfectly.
What am I doing wrong?????

(I really like to keep the <Table> window visible all the time so that I can make quick amendments or adjistments.)

Thanks Shintaro

Are we comparing like-with-like.

I have no trouble whilst the Tournament is going along normally.

My problem is only when I click the <Table> button to open the "Tournament Management Window" in order to :
- edit the Tournament, or
- make a substitution, or
- adjust a board, or
- check how many tables are still in play.

If I keep the "Tournament Management Window" open so that I can make subsequent adjustments more quickly, 'Chat Assistant' ceases to function.

After I close the "Tournament Management Window" CA starts working again.
