I'm thinking dummy bid too high and we have well over half of the points. Double an take tricks.

A reasonable and logical possibility, especially if pard has what he seems to be showing. Can't let the opps push you around when it is your hand and when they think about it for quite some time. ;)

Was East's S-void enough to add a 3rd trick for raise to 5D? No, initially, yes after partner came in.
Now, no S, no D, no H, maybe 1C trick in defense for a double?? Insane! 5S.

Glad you can read minds, it must come in handy when "guessing" layouts.....

I have a question of my own. In a teams match a month ago or so I got this pretty hand:

After partner's pass and RHO's 1, I chose 4. Am I too strong? Should I have doubled or overcalled just 1? Partner had

And we made 12 tricks easily (and we were doubled!)

I'd bid 4S as well. Your partner's initial pass is weird. I am also suprised that you were doubled when the opps have an 11 card H fit AND a 10 card D fit. Very odd!

Our teammates were in 5. Can't remember if they made 6 or not!

You were doubled in 4 and wrapped it around their neck. You can't expect the whole field to be in the 16-point slam. I'd think +1190 would be worth a top board.

By the way, many experts would make the leap to 4 with your hand and another ace, opposite a passed hand.
