Bidding goes:

1 1
2 ???

2 shows 18-20 at least 5-4.

Where do you foresee the auction going?

Bonus question:

What if partner had bid 1 only?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

I will bid 2NT. I think I can best put my comments in list form.
- It's very cheap and leaves partner room to describe his hand.
- It describes the nature of my hand very well.
- It doesn't give partner a false impression of my honors for slam investigation (as opposed to 3.) I hate bidding bad suits on slam hands, it really hinders partner's evaluation.
- If we play in game it won't matter if we miss a 6-2 heart fit since we have so much strength. If we play in slam we probably don't belong in a 6-2 heart fit unless partner has two honors.
- I have no problems later in the auction, as I can raise diamonds or hearts if partner shows length there, and otherwise probably make a quantitative 4NT bid.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I like to play that 2Nt show at least half a stopper and doesnt deny a fit or a solid suit, the only exceptions are hand where you are sure to bypass 3Nt. This one is one of them but ill still bid just 2Nt.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."
