All vulnerable IMP's 1st seat. You can open 2NT for the minors, 5-9, if you want.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Do we have Minorwood or Voidwood in our agreements?
Yes => 2NT followed by Minorwood/Voidwood seems like a good plan.

No => 1 followed by cheapest of:
- a bid up to 4 -
- 4NT pick a minor
- 5 if everything else is not possible

I am not as confident as the others that bidding 1 Club / n diamonds will solve my problems. Opening 1 and rebidding diamonds sounds like a strong two suiter. My hand is only strong if we have a fit in a minor, else it is a horror.

So I go with 2 NT and will bid 4 Club if possible.

I had tried a 4 NT opening if this had shown both minors- but this is asking for specific aces for me.
Kind Regards

Roland

4NT is indeed not available unfortunately

I am not confident that showing my hand to my partner would solve my problem on this hand.

Failing that, I open 1 with the intention of rebidding diamonds. If the opponents force the auction to the 4 level before I get to mention diamonds, I will bid 4NT.

This hand is good, not great, until I get support from partner. With voluntary support of either minor my hand becomes very powerful.

5 probably makes, 5 is doubled and goes down twice. Other table is in 4-1, opps will not bid too much since the hand is a relative misfit. Partner has something like AJxxx KJxx 9xxx

1. I play the 2N gadget - but this hand is way too strong for that - marginally in high cards, but a lot in terms of extra cards.

Open 2NT and rebid 5 on your own later.
