I think a 1H opening is blindingly obvious.

I wouldn't open this 2 in second seat, red versus white. 3rd seat preempts can be a bit wide ranging, but suggestions 2 with this is taking things WAY too far.

Passing also seems completely obvious

Partner couldn't scrape up a double our a raise, so we have not fit and there is a strong NT sitting over us.

Partner couldn't show a suit, so there is no place to run if we were to get doubled

Agree with hrothgar. If things get hairy later on, I would never believe that this hand held so much defense if it opened 2.

Pass now.

That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

Yeh, I guess a 3rd seat 2H would have been a bit heavy, since if I got a limit raise of a 1H call, I would accept. On this hand it looks like it could have gotten lucky, what with pard knowing how many hearts I have and what might be a good lead -- and the opps being deprived of a lot of bids. Unless they would have got a number doubling 2H.

Hi,

I guess I would bid 2H, but it is certainly not necessary,
and actually thinking more about it, bad, given that they
will have the majority of the deck most of the time...

With kind regards

What is the form of scoring/vul etc? I would often bid 2H depending on these factors

A totally obvious 1H opening and a just as obvious pass now. Don't tell the same story twice - it gets boring.

2 is too risky vul, and the times you go for a number make it too risky at imps, but I think it's likely enough to improve our score to be right not-vul at matchpoints.

I would think it would be easier to take 7 tricks in NT than 8 tricks in hearts.

I think it is reasonable to open 2 third seat with this hand. A "heavy" preempt can be very effective opposite a passed hand.
