say the bidding has gone:

1NT-p-2-p
2-p-6-p
6NT-x-xx-p
?

what do you do now? 1NT was 15-17.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Ugh, what a terrible auction. 5 is one of the worst bids I've ever seen. I now bid 6, what I should have done last round.

Abstain.

I cannot relate to a system where 1NT shows 15-17.

Pass?

It is either Pass or XX, XX makes only sense, if we are pretty sure, we go at most
-1, which I am not.
Ok p makde a slam try with 5D, but THEY also heard the slam try, so ...

The only call that is consistent with my previous calls is pass.

But if I was subbed in in this mess I would try 5NT, hoping partner takes it as pick-a-minor.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

You should have announced that you play support doubles here- you surely do, else the bidding is too horrible to follow.
