After a spade lead won in dummy, I played 2 rounds of trumps both following, then for another countless time I tried for the hopeless diamond test before drawing last trump, but today it was the day, after years of trying this play finally for once RHO discarded on the diamond and I was the only declarer to score 12 tricks (very few played in clubs anyway)

Will I have to wait 5-6 more years for it to happen again?.

No correction to 5? Partner is obviously in on the joke.

And RHO can't open 2, but he can stick in 2 after 1-p-1? Weird.

good to know there's hope out there!

for me even the baby version is hopeless (when I have a 4-3 side suit and I need it to be 3-3 or 2 with the short trumps) :)
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

What do you think bill?

Whenever this odd bidding happens its because something odd is going on, What coud it be?, one of 3 things can happen for mid players: 10-11 count, 4 or more hearts, or very weak hand. I took this info during the play, and obviously one of them was going on.

Funny against me it's like 100 % when they bid terribly and miss a slam that requires trumps to not be 4-0, and also bid terribly so they find their 8 card fit instead of their 9 card fit randomly, they catch 4-0 trumps so most people will be down in slam, and the magic layout where the 8 card fit is better than the 9 card fit. One HUNDRED percent.
