Free Automated Game... I think West's pass of 2NT* should show indifference between and and that East should pull. Anyone else?

It doesn't excuse the bot, but West does have a slight preference for clubs, he should show it. Or is he of the old school that thinks that a "free bid" shows values?

And he kept NS from finding their diamond slam, so he could afford to go down 5. :)

I failed to specify, but the Automated Game is matchpoints, so you'd have to hold it to down 4. As you can see, East went down 6. And chat is disabled in Automated Games, so I didn't even have the option of being tactless enough to ask West why he didn't show a preference <_<

Risky strategy by your partner- he doesn't have hearts or clubs. If east-west had the hearts and clubs then it could make and you have game in say diamonds or spades. Better to bid a conventional bid like 3 showing strength with diamonds or 3 showing strength with spades , even better would be if showed diamonds and spades and strength (that depends on your system or what is specified for this tournament.

I don't see how... If EW has hearts and clubs, partner expects to take at least 5 spades and the A of clubs, plus whatever I can cash. (I did open, after all.)

I don't see U/U on SAYC, so I don't think it's right to test 3 or 3 in a one-board-with-each-partner individual tournament using SAYC. Partner took the sure plus.

What sure plus? If partner doubles 2NT, he is expected to have defence to double their suits not strength in your own.

You are talking in circles. You said that my partner made a risky play. I don't think he did anything risky -- he's happy to defend 2NT doubled, and if someone bids again, he can bid more.
