Admittedly I suggested in the original X that I had something in all the other suits but I don't understand GIB insistence on ♥ in spite of my repeated bidding of ♠ especially when it had 4 of them. Can anyone explain this bidding to me?

As has been discussed in these forums several times but never written into GIB's system notes, it is one of GIB's major deficiencies that once partner makes a takeout double GIB will continue to expect partner to have support for the other suits. GIB does not understand the concept of double-and-correct, or any other bidding that might over-ride the original "pick a suit" nature of the takout double.

While I'm sure that correcting this problem in GIB's logic would be a difficult and time-consuming endeavor, documenting it should not be.
