Perhaps, we should think of hands, where 1♠ may cause issues (except opener goes waco at high level). And compare it to 2♠ bid where it may cause to miss ♥ fit.
I still don't know % 100 which one i like more, dbl or 1♠. But I also still believe a good 6 card major suit, when dressed with a good 4 cards side suit, is too big for an intermediate balancing jump overcall.
