I would, but partners expect this garbage. I plan on passing 1NT, by the way.

Sorry this is a bit too much for me. No shortness, no aces, only 11, Qx, Jx, brrrr.

I might just open 1 with the majors reversed though.

I don't understand the poll question. Which conditions may I change? I would definitely open this hand in third seat. But perhaps you're only asking about other vulnerabilities or forms of scoring? Or just state of the match and my personal disposition?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I'm trying not to open 8 counts and this doesn't count as one , 1

There is no hurry with both majors unless it goes all pass. If that's teh case I will live with it. I pass.

I don't feel strongly about this hand. It's a piece of crap, but we are not vulnerable, hearts is our best suit, we have an easy rebid after anything partner bids, and 1H preempts the minors. I would open it.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I feel strongly about this hand. It's a piece of crap, no matter that we are not vulnerable, hearts is our best suit and we have an easy rebid after anything partner bids. Partner will drag us to the stratosphere.

Will he? Sometimes partner will bid 1NT, sometimes partner will bid 2H. Those should be good.

Of course can happen, and vulnerable opponents will get so frightened by these actions that they let you play, make a couple of mistakes in the defense and you will get a top.

I know aggression pays

I would much rather open a hand like Axxx Axxxx xx xx than the load presented
here HOWEVER even I admit that it can work favorably and while I would normally
never open the dreck shown here ------If behind at imps (probably due to opening
hands like this) or needing a top at MP (probably due to opening hands like this)
this hand has enough merit to at least consider it as an option. I hope to see
SOTM (state of the match) as an option in these surveys so I dont have to
keep qualifying like this.

Opening hands like this on a regular basis will wreck any chances your partnership
has of competing effectively and you will give the opps a license to steal because
your p will never have a clue when to x.

Have your SORRY PARD unhappy face ready if you decided to open.

I have my "Sorry partner, I was just bidding my hand" card ready. Not opening this seems absurd to me, but perhaps I'm slightly influenced by playing a lot of strong club systems. Regardless, getting in there immediately is almost always better, and this hand won't get any easier to bid later in the auction.

7-loser hand. The minor suit quacks are a bonus. What's the problem?

Mounteen has accurately pointed out that, even in a 2/1 or Standard thread, the choices of many players are influenced by the system they most commonly use. Here we are not told what we are playing, but a Strong Club or LTC style makes this hand more attractive/less dangerous.
