The problem with Safari (recent, this didn't use to happen) is that the mouse disappears when moved over the playing area. This makes it hard to click on cards and is generally annoying.

I started a thread about this in the BBO Support Forum, it's apparently a bug in the Safari 5.1 update that came out a couple of weeks ago.

I haven't had the problem with Chrome, but I don't do much chatting in BBO because I mostly play against bots.

Speaking of browsers and BBO:

For the spoken commentary on the Spingold I ended up using IE on the XP. First I started to just use the downloadable BBO, then remembered that I had to use the online version. So I tried, from Firefox. I had trouble getting the voices. So I logged out and re-logged in with IE, or tried to. IE said I needed Flash, Flash said I could download, but, when I tried to download, it told me that currently Flash won't work with 64 bit technology. So the hell with it, downstairs to use the seven year old XP.

Stuff that works, stuff that holds up, the kind of stuff you don't hang on the wall.

As the lone rep for Safari, I'm not going to complain about anyone who serves Microsoft a nice, cold trout to the chin.

What is a browser and why should I waste any time caring?

I dont see anyone citing a study showing whateverbrowser makes one richer/smarter/better bridge player.

Perhaps we should have another poll in which we ask people both what browser they use and how good a bridge player they are, and then correlate the results? :)

I see you love to waste time.....noted.....

I am not shocked...people love to waste time at work esp if they are on salary...

When I worked on a salary ....I figure 90% or more wasted most of day........as they study this issue or others....waste of time....

They love to waste time...study issues....but never grow business.....no.

Clearly it should be a 6-team round robin first, then a playoff of the top two!

We'd need to wait for the last three options in the poll to have at least four votes, though.

Perhaps we should make a study of how effectively people waste time at their salaried work vs. what browser they use.

There has been a study about IQ and browser usage here:

So why didn't you include Camino as a poll option? :P

I actually used Camino for a short while, but have long since switched back to Opera (and soon thereafter back to Linux). I also use Iceweasel (a rebranded Firefox) for some things like BBO.

See the paper

But there hasn't been a study: the paper and press release are a hoax. The BBC reported the results, despite being told the whole story was unsound, and only retracted when the perpetrators admitted it was a hoax. This lamentable behaviour was reported on More or Less.

At home Firefox but for remote working I must log in with IE.
At work IE.

I like FF but I don't know why so many dislike IE. For me it's just another browser.

Probably because it frequently doesn't work as well as other browsers. E.g.

Also, many people just have a general bias against anything Microsoft.

IE doesn't handle multiple tabs well. At least on my computer it crashes frequently when i try to open 2+ tabs

Perhaps we need another poll on how gullible users of each browser are.
