Pretty strange pass of cue bid in 4 of minor, first time suit named, after agreed major

The text on the bidding said this was a cue bid denying the ♣A and showing the 8+ in diamonds. I wasn't sure if we are supposed to cue voids with GIB, but I didn't think pass would ever be a good choice red at imps in this auction no matter what it showed!
