The one time GIB should take 3NT out.......
Why GIB didnt take 3NT out o 4 if by explanations he was the one to promise (and T9xx is not a stopper on such auction) and I bid rebiddable and stopper?

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Why didn't East bid 2N over 1? And why later show 16+? And why didn't West show a preference for his 3-card minor over his 2-card minor?

What's the idea of 2 as East already claims it has 4+4+ in minors?

By the way it seems that needs correction as that must show some cuebid and more power.

1 - pass - 1 - 2NT is 17+TP and 5+5+.

Also for GIB the double over 2 doesn't mean 6+ ( rebiddable=5, but stronger suit) and more points 16-19.

So the shape seems to be something like 1534 or 2524 with Jx or Jx or Kx in the diamonds.

If you had rebid 2 over the Double, it seems to provide more appropriate information for partner, leading partner to 4 easily.

Actually, the book bid is 1NT, since GIB plays Sandwich NT. In my simulation tests, I get:

6 I bid 1N
1 I bid 2C
2 I bid 2D
2 I bid X

So it looks like there was an unlucky choice of sims.

West didn't bid over 2 (X) because it thinks it needs some points to bid unforced. That would be correct if South bid a suit, it needs to be fixed to bid over a double.
