I was having a conversation with a partner about this, and I find defense to be 100x more enjoyable than declaring. Essentially I feel like I have more control as a defender than I do as declarer on alot of the hands.
Factors involved in control from a defensive point of view:
- opening lead
- proper discarding
- finding killing shifts
- visualizing layouts
Apart from the last one, declarer rarely has this amount of control over each hand. My real point was that alot of times the 95% line and the 20% line both make, so its more rare to be rewarded for good declarer play than it is to be rewarded for good defense.
Anyway, which do you prefer?

I would certainly prefer to have my 20% lines make a lot of the time.
