Easy pass. Sure, we might get more from defending 5X, but our offense is terrible and we will just be tempting partner to bid on his diamond shortage.

If I double I have a partnership agreement that pard cannot pull it unless they have a live chance at making their bid.

I think (they think) they do, they will and they won't. It sucks but I pass.

If I could, I would double for penalties. But as we play with screens, I could not. So I pass.

Slam a red card down on the table as hard as you can - should get the message across. Note that the same convention also works for singleton leads and honour leads against NT asking for an unblock (et al).

I don't mind double hugely, but its basically certain partner will pull this. This reminds me of a hand vs bakshi-De Wijs,

East had a huge tank over the double, and I decided that probably meant he was long in diamonds, and partner was shapely, so decided to pull. West led the ace of diamonds and it was happy days. Anyway, the point is that partner might well strive to pull this on weak shapely hands. You will be playing 5M whenever partner has a six card major, for example, and I'm not sure that you want to do that, so I would pass. Still, you have a reasonable honour structure for playing 5M, so it feels close. If they lead a diamond and away go partners club losers you won't be too disappointed with your wasted diamonds.

Now i've almost talked myself into doubling. :S

Well, the five level belongs to Nigel Guthrie, so I'd pass. B-)
