Hi

I may have asked about this in passing on other threads but am very curious about the apparent (imagined) differences in how hands are "designed"/"engineered" for different tournament types

I play a wide range of GiB tourneys, obviously most are best hand

Freebies of all kinds
Daylongs BBO and ACBL
Instants (not best hand) BBO and ACBL
Robot tournaments (best hand) BBO and ACBL
Classics (best hand) where GiB plays north contracts etc

most recently a couple of Prime Daylongs (best hand) and Zenith Daylongs (not best hand)

I have tried to analyse the obvious difference in my results in different tourney types and tried to get a handle on the (apparently obvious) perceived difference between hand design

I really have no idea about whether some are designed to be weird, boring, interesting, whatever. No idea on which best represent my ability. Given results I am thinking that the Zenith (non best hands) are closest to my showing my level with the results.

Has anyone else ever analysed this kind of thing with their own play?

The wonderful thing about the Zeniths was they reminded me how disappointing real Bridge can be with a sequence of bad hands, made even worse playing with Bots

I have to date avoided Goulash but apparently Prime hands come close

Do I have enough qualifiers in this post?
