Is there any rule of thumb which suit to preference if you have equal length(no chance for game) in minors and the auction goes 1(2+)-1/1-2-?

Assume your 2 promise 6, 111-15,1NT 14-16 if that matter.

Not unless you have rules. I think 1D-1H, 2C shows at least 9 cards in the minors while 1D-1S, 2C can be as few as 8.

We play 1D-1H, 2C is 5+D/4+C and 1D-1H, 1S can be 3145.

We play 1D-1S, 2C can be 3/5 or 4/4 (so preference clubs with equal length) and 1D-1S, 2D shows 4H/5D.

Maybe that will work for you.

It helps a lot to find fits if you play Reverse Flannery...1D-2H=5S/4+H 0-9.

It matters if 1H or 1S. With 1H, 2C denies 4 Spades so shows 4/5 either way. With 1S, if I have your version of precision correct, where 1N rebid guarantees at least a doubleton, it can be 8+ total minors.

I would correct back to Diamonds in both cases. Partner may have another bid coming showing top of range or showing extra club length or diamond length and values.

We play expressly that 2 in this auction "does not encourage a preference". But that's of course a specific agreement.

What do you do with 6+ after 1-1? Or do you open something else?
