after a strong club auction where no player shows a suit, you end up in 6NT by south all vul.
LHO leads ♣8, how do you play the play?

Either need BOTH red suit finesses working...
or
ONE red suit and 3 tricks from the ♠ suit ( split honors or 3-3 split or if Q J bare , then you wouldn't need a red suit finesse ).
I'd go to work on the ♠ suit first .

Defence is hard. Make it harder - cash four rounds of clubs. This is a great option when they do not know our shape. We force a total of two discards, which may be directly fatal, or at least provide clues as to what to do next.
One attractive scenario is that West throws a spade from Jxx. Now we play three rounds of spades endplaying East, making the contract without any red finesses. Anyway, we don't have to see round corners to cash some winners - this should be ingrained as our default play when entries permit.

I would start with clubs and then try the double finesse in Spade.
If they return a diamond, I will finish spades. If I get no more information in other suits, I would cash the King of D and finesse Hearts through East.

After cashing the clubs, I'll take a spade finesse. If that loses and they play a diamond back, I'll play spades from the top.
If I have only two spade tricks, I take the diamond finesse and then guess the hearts once I know the layout of all three other suits.
If I have three spade tricks, I'll see some more discards, which may tell me which finesse to take, or there may be a showup squeeze.

... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

That's no problem unless you repeat the finesse...
You start by cashing the clubs (discarding a diamond in hand). Now you run the ♠10 which looses. Then you cash the spades. Because spades are 3-3 you don't need the diamond finesse (discarding the ♦J on the last spade). Given the count in the black suits, you will play ♥K followed by a ♥ to the ten.
