Teams, you're whited, they're red, you hold:

Axxx
Kxxx
---
Jxxxx

1-(Pa)-1-(2)
X-(3)-Pa-(3)
X-(Pa)-???

Your screenmate (the guy bidding 3) did not alert anything.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

You should at least explain what opener's first DBL meant.
My guess is opener shows a strong balanced hand in the 18-19 bracket, possibly 4=3=3=3.
I do not like defending when they seem to have a cross-ruff.
Anyway I bid 3NT. We have probably a spade fit, but it might not do well on a defensive cross-ruff.

I agree with the first two posters. In essence, the problem as posted is meaningless.

If we are playing with screens, we surely know what partner's double of 2 meant.

In addition, we would always at this stage have asked about the meaning of 2. I'd do it even without screens but to fail to ask with screens is wilful blindness. So he didn't alert...maybe he thinks their agreement, if not natural, doesn't need an alert. Would you rather win at the table or get into an argument with the Director or Committee (if committees exist in this event)?

I don't yet know what I would do. If double showed 18-19 balanced, then presumably the double of diamonds shows 2+ stoppers and 3N will be safe. However, if it had some other meaning, then maybe we belong in clubs, or hearts or spades.

ATT, I would be in a far better position to make a decision since I would know what all three opponents were doing (or at least what RHO thought they were doing).
