This was indeed a bug -- we've been calculating the wrong field size for strat C in pairs tournaments for about a month. We deployed a fix on Sunday morning, has it happened since then?

We're still working on the code to correct all the tournaments that were affected by the bug.

The last speedball I played in was Saturday evening. Thanks to a great last three boards, we managed to get points the correct way (pulling up to 1st in C).

Will points be taken away from affected tournaments?

Yes. The points we awarded were not won legitimately, so we have to correct them. We're going to go back and correct all the affected tournaments, and include adjustments in our September 1 report to ACBL. Your September masterpoint report will include the extra awards (it's too late to correct that), the October report will show the adjustment.

Yes, we made the adjustments last night. They'll be sent to ACBL in our September 1 upload.

Is there a place that explains how this works? I feel like sometimes I'm in flight C and sometimes flight B (in acbl I'm flight C in live play).

I don't actually care all that much what flight I'm in (although I do like getting more master points as this seems to be a metric people will judge me by and I don't have many . . .), but I do find it annoying when the barometer ranking is for the flight you're in (e.g. If I have a 65% going and it shows rank as one I have no clue where I actually stand overall, but a flight a player knows they actually are leading tourney)

We don't have anything written that goes into detail.

We order the players by masterpoints and divide into thirds. The top third is A, the middle third is B, the bottom third is C. So if there are more entrants with high masterpoints, you may get pushed down to C.

Also, I think we use the higher of the partners, so if your partner has more MP than you, that may drag you into a higher strat.

We use the max of the two.

Total ACBL MP. ACBL points won on BBO can't be more than total BBO points, since you win the same number of BBO points whenever you win ACBL points on BBO.
