so (clearly?) my p shouldnt have passed but i'm not sure what she should've bid and how the subsequent bidding should've gone.

Thanks

5 is high enough. 6 requires 3-3 break if trump led.

At MPs, you don't want to be in diamonds, NT or will score better.

1-1-2- now it depends on agreements, whichever of 2/2N/3 shows a decent hand -3-4 is plausible.

In your sequence, I'd have bid 4 rather than 4 to show the 6-5.

There is a case for

1 1
2 2

being forcing. It is played as such in some styles, and it could definitely help here.

As it went, I think I prefer 4 instead of 4. Pard can still have 3 hearts no?

3S creates a game forcing auction, pass by North is not an option.

The jump to 3S should show better spades, north should bid 3C, FSF asking
for further description, the advantage being, over any answer from partner,
North can bid 3NT.
If 3C is nat, than bid 2S, if you play 3C as nat. you will mot likely play 2S
as forcing as well.

South should also bid 4H, instead of 4D, 4H should show the 65, 4D maybe 64
or 74.

Not a wonderful slam which fails on trump lead when hearts are 4-2. Do not understand how N can leap in S and then pass 4D. Also no reason for the S hand to hide the 5th heart, 4H is a better choice.

If playing Leb3 ( Lebensohl over a Reverse ), then a 2S rebid is forcing and undoubtedly will save room .
The near solid begs for that suit to be trump -- even without support :

South
1D - 1S
2H - 2S
3H - 3NT
4D - 4H
4NT ( RKC ostensibly for ) - 5H ( 2 - Q )
6D
If Responder only had 1 key card, you would have stopped in 5D .
