2 at MPs to try to win the partscore. IMPs I will feel not so good but probably will do it just as well.

What's the vul?

2 seems insane to me, assuming it's Michaels. P's going to compete on all the wrong sort of hands.

Pass for me vul, though it's close since I have the spade suit pretty sewn up, and I'd rather compete now than later. But for this cheap an overcall, I need a bit extra. NV, I'd probably stretch to it, but I'd feel dirty about it.

Probably pass but I could talk myself into it w/w.

I hope the posters convince future opponents to bid Mike or overcall in this position with that type of holding, so I won't argue against it. I especially encourage a Michaels cue with this holding for those who (like Whereagles) don't play Michaels cuebids.

Added vulnerability. (All vuln)

When I play 2 as michaels I allow for 5-4s, but always 5 hearts. Would you bid it under that agreement..?

I would encourage other pairs to have that agreement and use it as often as possible.

1 at mp's, set the defense, bump them up etc. is an agreed partnership style for me and no, I don't always look both ways before I cross the road or sleep with a night light.

Clear cut if you add a ten or two.

Thx all. Here is the "solution":

Despite the screaming lack of intermediates, I decided that 1 at MPs would be worth it. It did create N/S some problems, as North didn't think it was worth a negative dbl, and South thought a balancing 1NT to be insufficient for his "huge" hand.

Still, in practice the frisky overcall backfired, as 3NT is cold, while much of the field went down in 4 LOL.

sure, we allow 44 in certain situation, but just because we can, does not mean we have to do it.
Since you show 5+ hearts, if you can go for it.
