I thought GIB generally played Cappelletti, but GIB pulled X showing 5+5 in the majors on me twice in one eight board. When does GIB play X as penalty and when does GIB play X shows 55♥♠?

PS. It worked well, I got a 74.20% in the tourney!

And on the first hand, GIB has neither a major 2-suiter nor a penalty double of 1NT.

By a passed hand, they did only one thing with GIB's defense to NT - they made X as showing both Majors. The problems is the description says 5-5, but it only promises 4-4. I went to a bidding table, where as a passed hand I made every bid from X through 2NT, and GIB responded just as the description said it would. I just wish they would make (1NT) - 2M as promising 5+ instead of just 4+ . At the very least, GIB with ♠Q983 ♥43 ♦942 ♣ A952 should bid 2NT over it, so we can find the 5-4 Club fit instead of the 4-2 Heart fit!
Edited after 1eyedjack's post - 2♦ also shows the Majors by a passed hand; the ONLY difference is that they changed X from Penalty to 4-4 Majors.

I should like also to know the distinction between X and 2D by passed hand. Maybe 2D shows something completely different from non-passed?
