Maybe I should have bid 3D the first time, but having passed, my hand becomes rather big in the next round. I wanted to bid 5D, but it was showing 12-14 total points if I remember right, so I had to bid a rather pitiful 4D playing there when slam is good (though not making on this occasion). Also, I think if you are playing this style, you really need to bid 5D as North considering a black king and nothing else is going to be a decent game.

Once again GIB paints itself into a corner. The double is very poor, it should bid 4C and you'd know to bid 5D. It probably would pass 3S if you took out to that strain.
