We were defending this hand at a club session, but I was surprised no one bid and made Par with all bar 1 pair stopping below the 3 level
The only Par bidder went down 3 which was an anomaly for the player in question.

Can you bid PAR using a favoured approach with or without gadgets and choose the right line to make the contract?

6 led when North was declarer and a low with South declarer

I think we bid 1-1-3-4 if N only bids 2 I probably make a LSGT with the south hand and N accepts

What lead ?

I am not working out here how North became declarer on this hand, even if not using 2/1. I go with Cyberyeti's auction and South ends up in 4 as PAR contract. Difficult hand to play: a few options to think through. The opps. hands must have distributional to end up 3 down. What went wrong? I will let others answer before having a try myself here.

I guess N/S were playing ACOL (Not my forte) and South didn't like the suit so bid 2 showing 8+.

There may be a system that bids like that but it is not Acol.

And even if they did bid 2, the N hand is not a reverse if you DO 2/1 on 8 so it continues 2-2, there is a tenet observed by most Acol players that you respond the major if you're going to pass opener rebidding his suit and not get the major in second time.

We would bid one of cyberyeti's auctions in 2/1, although in another more eccentric partnership it could even go 1NT-2;2-2;3-4.

I don't play this, but I imagine the auction in half my club would be 2-4. Flannery, of course.
