I've not seen a popup in express tournaments. Just a small, easy to miss, box in the lower right. Then suddenly, one is logged out completely with no way to rejoin, or even watch, the play. Nothing that catches attention. No audio warning sound.

That box in the lower right is what I meant by popup.

I don't find these easy to miss, unless I'm not looking at the computer. Chat messages are easy to miss, though.

The problem I have with the boxes is that because they aren't a countdown timer that I can monitor from the corner of my eye (chess clock) I do not have a clear sense of exactly how much time remains.
Basically the pop-ups generate stress without helping time management in the same way a chess clock does.

And also being off to the right and in yellow (a warning colour, but often just a noise in BBO such as partner needs to play from my hand, opponent is too dumb to accept explanation or things finished and we couldn't be bothered to update the screen) the message is easily missed or ignored when we have our own pressing problem of deciding what to bid in a short time.

Put the countdown in the middle of the board, make the bid buttons shake, use voice or whatever. Or if that is really so difficult just pass.

Because they're very different games.

Good one!!! Obviously implementing a timer on BBO is a decade long project.

What does this have to do with a warning when a daylong is about to end?

Because if I was given a visible notice, perhaps with a sound, or anything more than an easily missed box at the corner of the screen, I would not suddenly find myself logged off of a tournament that I paid for, with no way to reconnect.

It;s not just me. Customers have been asking for this for a very long time. Do you not understand the request?

Because...

More accurately, the answer is it has nothing at all to do warnings about when daylongs are about to end, which is what the original post in this thread was about.

But that doesn't really help anyone with the secondary topic about a warning being before booted from timed events, unless the advice is that you'll get a response if you post it in a new thread..
