I can't sleep, so I'll post a few hands from Long Beach.

Matchpoints - late in the event. You are playing with a new pard and haven't been on the same wavelength all day. Last board of the event. Don't worry, you aren't in contention for anything.

You and pard pass throughout. 1 on left, 1 on right, 2 on left, 2 on right. Your lead?

I lead a and it looks fairly obvious.

No doubt better players will tell me why I am wrong however.

I'm leading a heart as well. When with trump length, lead from length.

Although a forcing defense can work well, it usually works best against 5/3 fits and 4/4 fits. Here we have a 6 card or longer suit to deal with and repeated heart leads may well aid declarer in scoring his small trumps Therefore, I'm ruling out hearts. I don't really want ruffs right away so I'm down to diamonds or spades.

Spades don't look right so I'm down to diamonds. Let's see if we can't build up some quick diamond tricks with a low diamond lead instead of the Q.

I am with Erick and Echognome, and I think it should be obvious.

I lead a heart. A D is a shot in the dark and a C could help them set up their suit. Besides the lead of an unsupported honour is very rarely right.

Yes a heart seems fairly obvious although its arguable the tap won't be successful. But a heart should be led for the obvious reasons.

At the table the idiot to my right had rebid Axxxx. But this idiot was fixated on getting his spade 8 promoted and led the club. But the biggest idiot was my pard who couldn't figure out the trump situation and gave away a club trick after he won a trick with his Qx of spades.

This was the last board of an event that I played with a new partner whom I doubt I will be playing with again.
