Some people got lucky with 3NT but seriously for me it takes all the space out of the auction and I erred on safety rather than going for the heart game

What is wrong with a simple game force?

I considered 4 diamonds for a while of course - straight past 3NT

Gib abuses the 3♥ bid.
First of all it doesn't need to be nearly that good a suit and it's a 7 card suit
Secondly it shouldn't have such good support of spades especially with a side singleton
Third the A♠ is a huge card along with the semi-solid hearts this is a game force hand a great 6 loser hand with a partial fit

As for south bidding.
to bid 3NT is bizarre, you can't count on much outside for north so that you are wide open in clubs does not come as a complete shock

bidding 3♠ is also bizarre as you know south has at most 2 spades so a singleton A♥ will make hearts a better trump suit

The reason for 3 spades is that I did not want 3NT or 4 diamonds or pass! - it was a subgame hope of finding the right game - knowing after an invite it was likely to be passed WHo knows what happens after 4 diamonds, hopefully 4 hearts
Pass wasn't a great option either socre wise -same as 3 spades

Surely an orderly 2H GF leads to a more orderly auction - on the brightside up against a club lead I would have scored well

Agree. This is frequent abuse of Gib's jump invite.

All that said, I believe that 4 heart response is clear cut considering the ace and extra values.

it clearly was the right bid but I had no idea that 3H meant that hand

I tested out the more orderly 1S-2H-3D-4H in another bridge engine

I think 4D could have worked too

If 3♥ is an invite then North is too strong. A 4♥ bid with a self-sustaining suit shows the limit of the hand, but does GIB play this?

Humans program these bots and they forget far too many things. I bet the north hand would be considered an opening 1 bid and if so the 3h bid is just plain wrong no matter what the programmers had in mind. I am constantly amazed at how many times my "choices" completely fail to take into consideration (for ex) I am a passed hand and CANNOT have what my choices say I must. I think the bots are designed to keep newer players as confused as long as possible ))))))) ANYWAY I think 4H was the correct bid since it was theoretically asking if you were above dead minimum.

I guess with the description of 6+ it is a possible 7 trump game - and at least I have the Ace

It is just a serious underbid by my partner - or shall we say one of the least favorite bids my partner makes from time to time

-personally and I am not sure why itisn't I feel a jump shift in the system should be a Soloway but I know hearts over spades is different for some reason

3♠ is commonly played as forcing although the explanation suggests that it is encouraging but nonforcing for GIG. In that light, North has an easy raise to 4♠.

But I agree that 4♥ by South is better than 3♠.
