Why didn't it pass as an offer to defend? If I reopen with a double it can then penalty pass! The field was in OUR 4♥ making but it was shut out by them.

Why didn't it pass as an offer to defend? If I reopen with a double it can then penalty pass! The field was in OUR 4♥ making but it was shut out by them.

Obviously passing going for blood is ok, given the colors, but showing the 4 card spade suit is certainly not terrible.

PS: Playing the 7 of spades to the Ace is not the best way to handle the spade suit, what is wrong with first K, followed by
the Jack, the Ace should be taken at trick 3, this way you will pick up spades 3-3, there may be better ways, but the Ace of
spade is the most important card in dummy, keep it alive as long as possible.
Also your best suit is diamonds, why do you go after clubs?
