Hi,

I wont pass it out, and I am usually looking for game, hence 3H.

If you treat it as a 5+ club, 4+ heart hand by bidding 3C, I have sympathie, and it is MP.

With kind regards
Marlowe

I play that 3 here is 'mini-Michaels', showing 5(+) and an unknown 5(+)m, weaker than a 4m Leaping Michaels bid.
There are a few complications with this option: 1) the forum this question is posted in; 2) the 3 bid commits us to the 4-level. Especially given the lack of a raise, partner may not appreciate that; 3) I do not have enough experience with this gadget to decide where the exact boundaries are between 3, 3 and 4 with this shape.

I am not passing or doubling. In practice I would bid 3, also to gain more experience with the gadget. I think it's not too far off - we have the shape, and I would be uncomfortable bidding 4 LM on this 'aces and spaces' hand. However, 3 may well be better.

Absent any other methods, 3 and I hope partner can act.

We also play 3S as Michaels, and 4C/4D as Leaping Michaels, the diff for us is, the Leaping is Nonforcing and could, on rare occassions
be based on 5+/4+ hands. 3S would basically be a forcing Michaels, laying more emphasis on the heart suit instead of the minor suit.
In this regard, I think, 4m is also ok for us, ..., you will end up at the 4 level, but 4m gives you the best chance to play your best fit.

We don't play the 'mini-Michaels', but in this case I'm comfortable with 4C Leaping Michaels and prefer it to 3H.

Not obvious. Even if you play leaping Michaels it could well be a disaster. Partner can easily have the cards that allow us to make 3NT or to collect a decent penalty but not make a game in or . So for me this is not a leaping Michaels.

If (and only if) you have the agreement 3 over partner's 3 shows a two suiter (not playing or not strong enough for leaping M) I'd double keeping open both the 3NT and the penalizing options as well as ending up in a rounded suit game. If that is not the case and 3 over 3 shows a stronger one suiter, I'd bid 3.

As a natural bidding discussion you have a choice of 3 or 3. I choose the Major first and can correct to 4 over interference.

Otherwise LM is the punt for me.

As a natural bidding discussion you have a choice of 3 or 3. I choose the Major first and can compete further with 4 over interference.

Otherwise LM is the punt for me.
