If 4S happens to make, it will be because South has a good hand and would have accepted an invitation, so North gains NOTHING from his imbecilic overbid, because the game would have been reached anyway.
If 4S happens NOT to make, South would probably NOT have accepted an invitation, so North LOSES because of his imbecilic overbid. GIBBO is the worst. GIBBO rots. GIBBO is an embarrassment to the game of bridge, and also to BBO, which is an otherwise fine bridge site unfortunately tarnished by these pitiful, hopeless GIBBO robots.

On this hand, why is Donald J. Dumbo, the jackass in the East, leading a spade, DECLARER'S known second suit, INTO declarer? Why is he not leading a diamond, the suit his "PARTNER" bid?
There is one answer and one answer only: He is doing it because he is a disgusting, useless, incompetent GIBBO robot, and these blithering I.D.I.O.T.S. seem to LOVE leading DECLARER'S suits and to HATE leading "partner's".
How is it even possible for anyone or anything to be as CONSISTENTLY hopeless in ALL facets of bridge as these constantly inept GIBBO dolts?

As I've said a few times before, if we TRIED to create a robot who played worse than these disgusting GIBBO slobs, we would have a HUGELY difficult, perhaps impossible task. They absolutely rot at all facets of the game. They are a grotesque stain on bridge.

His "impossible 2S bid" told the story of his hand, over which South bid 3D, defined by GIB as "3+ diamonds; 5+ hearts; 11+ HCP; plus the usual irrelevant drivel about 'total' points - something about which GIB knows NOTHING". So it was VERY inconsistent for North to NOW bid 3NT, considering that he had already shown his values, that those values had originally been considered EXCELLENT values for diamonds (NOT for NT) but he is NOW bidding NT, and that South has shown NOTHING beyond what his first two calls had already shown.
North is also ignoring his own GIB definition of 3NT, which claims that it shows "12+ HCP". The typically pathetic definition also serves as the Nth example that GIB knows NOTHING about "total" points.

South's 2C is incorrectly and DISHONESTLY defined as showing "3+ clubs", which is a LIE. If a HUMAN gave this FALSE explanation, he would deserve to be penalized and reprimanded.
2C, in the execrable and antiquated GIBBO joke of a bidding system, does NOT show "3+ clubs"! It shows TWO PLUS! Why? Because any time South is 4-5-2-2, as he is here, if he lacks sufficient high-card strength to reverse or raise NT, he MUST bid...TWO CLUBS.
2H would promise a sixth heart, which he does not have.
2S would be a reverse, which would require additional high-card strength, which he does not have.
2NT would show roughly 18-19 HCP, which he does not have.
Theoretically, he COULD bid 2D, but: A. Then THAT would ALSO have to be HONESTLY defined as showing ONLY "TWO plus diamonds". B. It is MUCH better to preserve the integrity of a 2D call as showing at least THREE diamonds, AND it is much more economical and flexible to bid two CLUBS with 2-2 in the minors.
This hand type is NOT a once-in-a-lifetime thing and it is NOT a new phenomenon, so why the HELL has GIB been using this same INCORRECT and DISHONEST LIE (!) about 2C showing "3+ clubs" for YEARS (perhaps even since the "birth" of GIB decades ago!)?
Inexcusable.
And...COMICALLY...while GIB cannot even manage (after ALL these YEARS!) to provide a correct OR honest definition of 2C, it feels that it MUST begin the definition with these two COMPLETELY unnecessary words: "New suit". What a pathetic JOKE! Just as GIBBO robots are the worst, GIB definitions are the worst.

Oh yeah, you're right! Sorry. I must have forgotten that...HE'S A GIBBO ROBOT!!!
BTW, note that in the execrable and ANTIQUATED Blackwood response system that these GIBBO dweebs foolishly play, a bid of FOUR no trump by North would be VERY risky, because if South had only one key card (as he in fact did), he would have to bid 5 diamonds, thereby BYPASSING five CLUBS. That's a MAJOR reason why the 1430 response structure has replaced the ancient 0314 one - EXCEPT for in the pathetic GIBBO system.
Note also the typical BBO layout: KJX of clubs OFFSIDE and KJ93 of hearts also OFFSIDE. I got a nice laugh out of that and was not surprised even a tiny bit.

It all makes sense now. GIBBO is a digital sadist designed to inflict maximum psychological damage on masochist BBOers.

As for your fourth sentence, I would replace your word selection of "masochist" with "realistic". In reference to masochists, I refer you back to the "Animal House"/Kevin Bacon scene that I mentioned to you in another thread.
And finally, I know you were using figurative language in amusingly stating that "GIBBO is a digital sadist", but just in case anyone naively interprets your sentence literally, I will defend both you and GIBBO by saying that GIBBO is in no way at all a "sadist". Its motives are pure and it is very, VERY generous, especially when it "defends" against contracts. In "defending" against me when I declare, GIBBO has given me more absolute GIFTS than anyone or anything else I have ever encountered in my long lifetime, and I am confident that the vast majority of people who play in robot games could make that same statement in praise of GIBBO's generosity. GIBBO is kind, compassionate, caring, and considerate, and definitely NOT sadistic. Pity that it is such a truly horrendous "bridge player", though.

East's diamond lead can't be criticized, but it happens to make it easy for declarer to set up a quick second diamond trick. Thus, declarer wins trick one with his king and immediately leads a second round of diamonds at trick two. East gleefully wins that trick with his ace and then VERY generously decides to HELP declarer. At trick three, he cashes his diamond queen and then at trick four, having succeeded in establishing declarer's second diamond trick, he exits with a heart, knowing that this shift cannot hurt his "opponent".
Declarer wins the heart in dummy with the queen, and observes that if he can guess the layout of the spade suit, he can take four tricks in it. But he has several options. Since dummy has KQ105 of spades and declarer has A98, he has ALL the key spots and just has to locate the jack. BUT...does he play for a 3-3 split and just bang down his combined spades from the top...OR does he at some point hook WEST for the jack...OR does he at some point hook EAST for the jack? Ahh, decisions, decisions. Declarer uses the standard approach of first cashing a high spade from the hand with TWO honours, so he begins by playing dummy's spade queen, on which West follows with the 3 and East the 7. Then on the next trick, trick six, he continues with dummy's spade 5, which he is leading towards his remaining A9, two cards obviously invisible to EW. West plays the... JACK of spades, and declarer's guess VANISHES. He is now GUARANTEED to score four spade tricks. He CANNOT go wrong. But note that...
West's remaining spades at trick six were the jack (which he played) AND the 6. Second hand HIGH had once AGAIN reared its ugly head! It ELIMINATED any possible guess declarer might have had, and it GUARANTEED that declarer would get the suit "right" and win ALL FOUR spade tricks.
Note that if West had KEPT HIS JACK and made the obvious, easy, ELEMENTARY (!) play of following with the 6 - a play that even a raw BEGINNER would likely EASILY (perhaps AUTOMATICALLY!) find, declarer would almost certainly have risen with his ace and East would have played one of his two remaining spades (either the 4 or the 2). Then at trick 7 declarer would have led his last spade, the 9, towards dummy's remaining K10. East would have played HIS last spade (be it the 4 or the 2, whichever was left) and declarer would have called for dummy's....dummy's...dummy's....WHAT? Would declarer have called for dummy's KING, thereby successfully guessing the suit, successfully dropping West's now stiff jack, and successfully winning FOUR spade tricks? Who knows? MAYBE he would...but MAYBE he would have inserted the 10, playing for enemy spades 4-2 with East having four to the jack. If he guessed to do THAT, West would WIN his still-remaining, now-stiff JACK!
Declarer, as seen from the previous paragraph, MIGHT have guessed wrong, because EVERY bridge player guesses wrong sometimes. But the kind, GENEROUS (but not very bright!) GIBBO robot in the West - when he made his M.O.R.O.N.I.C, second hand HIGH play of the JACK at trick six, had made it IMPOSSIBLE for declarer to guess wrong!

At trick five, West pitches a club. I guess he figures that he MUST keep...SIX spades.
The club he pitches is the THREE from K83. East cashes the heart jack and club ace, and then plays a...SPADE. Minus 420 for EW instead of the plus 50 they would have scored if they took their TWO...TOP clubs. Maybe the fact that they either don't signal or don't even know HOW to signal had something to do with their failure here.

West bids 3D when 2NT would, in my opinion, be a better call. The GIB definition of 3D is also highly questionable, because why would West open TWO CLUBS if he could have as FEW as five diamonds and as LITTLE as 19 HCP?
West's subsequent 3NT call is, as we would expect, VERY poorly described in a typically pathetic GIB definition. His HCP range is RIDICULOUSLY broad (EIGHT POINTS!). Since he could have, according to witless GIB, as FEW as 19 but as MANY as 26, how is his "partner" EVER going to intelligently know what to do? This shows all the more why he should have earlier bid 2NT rather than 3D, as THAT would have pinpointed his HCP as being 22-24 (or something similar, depending on how the rotten GIBBO system identifies it).
Over West's 3NT, East commits one of his favourite nonsensical actions by stupidly, arbitrarily, unilaterally. and unscientifically leaping to 6NT, thereby WASTING three levels of potentially useful bidding space with his mad leap. THIS astoundingly stupid bid is defined by GIB as showing "14-16 HCP", even though the feebleminded simp actually has only eleven. On top of everything else, he's too ignorant and undisciplined to follow his own GIB definition.
Despite the overwhelming stupidity of their hopeless auction, the two East-West dopes have actually stumbled into a good contract. After the opening lead, it's ICE COLD, but the terminally useless GIBBO sap in the West manages to COMPLETELY butcher the hand and go down.
And, don't forget that declarer play is the BEST part of their game...even though, as this hand CLEARLY proves, they absolutely STINK at it. It's ONLY the best part of their game because they stink even MORE at opening leads, defence, and bidding. GIBBO robots are the worst at just about everything - and I'm being EXTREMELY kind by including the words "just about" in that statement. They are an embarrassment to the game.
