A typically logic-free "defence" by Frick and Frack, including: a shift to spades for no reason; a third-hand LOW play in spades for no reason; when the third-hand LOW play actually happens to win the trick, West does not return EITHER the heart suit that HE led OR the spade suit his "partner" led, because of COURSE he MUCH prefers to return the diamond suit DECLARER led; then he fails to duck the second club just in CASE declarer needs a dummy entry, and follows that by setting up the enemy's 13th spade.
AND look at the spot cards these malignant GIBBO oafs play: Playing standard signals, East follows to trick one with his 3 of hearts when the 4 would be more honest, descriptive, and helpful. At trick two, West, in following to the diamond trick declarer plays, tables the EIGHT from his holding of 865. At trick three, again in diamonds, West plays the FIVE from his remaining holding of 65. These dweebs, seemingly incapable of thought, observation, discipline, or partnership skills, basically appear to stupidly treat all spot cards as interchangeable equals.

Benellis58 GIB bashing on repeat Groundhog Day

We see here another example of the worthlessness of the GIBBO bidding system, a system that clearly seems to have been designed with a good deal of laziness and apathy.
As South, the only human in the game, I saw my partner North open 1NT in second seat. East passed.
I was looking at 21 HCP, so we were known to have a combined total of 36-38. Obviously, we would be bidding at least 6NT, and obviously everyone else also would. But maybe (?) we could make seven. Since this was the twelfth and final board of this game, I was (as usual) disgusted by various robotic atrocities that I had witnessed during the course of the day's play, and I didn't hugely care about the game at this point, but I was interested in seeing what these clowns played in a situation that I could not recall previously encountering in one of these robot games.
What would a 5NT response to the 1NT opener mean in the GIBBO system? I suppose that in the modern world there are a few different possibilities depending on partnership agreements, but ONE possibility would be that 5NT says "Pard, please bid 6NT with a minimum and 7NT with a maximum". If THAT happened to be the way the GIBBO system played the bid, I would give it a shot, not really caring whether it ended up working out well or not. But if that was NOT how the GIBBO system defined 5NT, I would merely leap directly to 6NT over pard's 1NT opener, as I suspect most players in this particular game would.
The definition of 5NT said...absolutely NOTHING! Nada! Bupkis! Rien!
I bid 6NT and made an overtrick when seven was cold thanks to a 3-3 enemy heart break. My score on the board was an almost totally flat average (53.6 %), as would be expected. North had a pancake flat 3-4-3-3 hand with a MINIMUM high-card count of 15, so it was NOT a good grand and we would NOT have bid it EVEN if 5NT had forced to 6 and invited 7, because pard, with his MINIMUM, would have signed off by bidding "only" 6NT (presumably, anyway, because he IS a GIBBO robot, and they are capable of doing the most AMAZINGLY stupid things!).
So, the fact that GIBBO never bothered to create a meaning or definition for 5NT in this auction (!!!) did not in any way affect our result or score on this board, BUT... the hand is still worth posting, because it exposes the laziness and sloppiness inherent in the creation of the GIBBO system. SURELY there SHOULD be a defined meaning - WHATEVER the system creator wants it to be - for 5NT. The fact that the system creator NEVER EVEN BOTHERED to create ANY meaning for 5NT here is quite an indictment...especially when added to MANY similar issues and situations in the pathetic GIBBO system.
