MPs, Acol, 3 weak twos, weak NT, scratch partner. Do you make a takeout double, show your second suit directly, or something else?

Sorry, I meant to put all these in the general bridge discussion section, not this one.

yeah this is just a 100% clear double, anything else is really bad.
"definitely that's what I like to play when I'm playing standard - I want to be able to bid diamonds because bidding good suits is important in bridge" - Meckstroth's opinion on weak 2 diamond

X (but partner will not leave it in, the tricky part will be what to do over 2H…guess we can bid 2S now?)

I think 3 is more descriptive over 2, since our hand is very strong. It is also worth pointing out that with a weak hand and 4=4 in the majors partner should respond 2, not 2. This means that, if partner bids 2, either partner does not have spades, or partner has 4=5 in the majors (double fit), or a stronger hand (nice).
1-(2)-? is always an awkward start to the auction, but I think we'll land on our feet most of the time here. The hand type that'd be really awkward is 3=4=2=4 or so (3=4=1=5 might find a pass of 2X even if weak), where over my 3 we need to hope there's a club stopper and enough values to bid 3NT.

I hate to admit it but I bid 2. I was too much on autopilot, I originally looked at my hand and decided it was 1 followed by a 2 bid if partner responds, then pulled out the 2 automatically on my second turn. I have a habit of playing too quickly at times. If I had found the double we would have had a spectacular result as LHO had made an appalling overcall and partner was sat with a massive club stack, so West would have been punished badly. The full deal:

+140 was worth 71% so I didn't get punished properly for my rashness. The two better scores were +300 for taking 2XE two off and +400 for 3NTS=.

I don't think 2 with AQTxx 5332 NV is appalling, just unwarranted IMO.
I would have rebid 3, but then I would also have opened 2NT most days of the week and so am probably not mainstream.
