I think this is a clear 1...2 hand. Not close to a jump rebid to me.
Kind regards,
Harald

Whatcha playing?

If 1NT is non-forcing, you gotta bid 2. If you're playing SA with a forcing NT, I think you should still bid 2, because the range for 1NT tends to be lower. I don't think in either case it's close.

Playing 2/1...I hate bidding 2 with these. It's very close to a 3 call to me, but at least on paper I'd bid 2.

1H-1NT-2H for me.
I play that 1H-1NT-2C asks partner to bid 2D with a minimum and describe with a maximum. I would bid 2C playing that and rebid H at minimum level over the response.

1 - 2 and I don't think it's close, particularly in 4th seat when a 2 opening is up to a 13-count or so; that makes this route show a better hand than it does in other seats.

1 then 2, but to me this is close.

I agree the hand is not really worth a 3 rebid; on the other hand it is a lot stronger than many hands that would rebid 2...

I am guessing the reason you did not force a 1 opening on us was to see if there are any 1NT openers. With a hand whose values are hard to describe, opening 1NT does have a lot going for it. Personally, I would not do it, but I do think it is a reasonable choice.

(Frances, pretty sure we are in first seat.)
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

My thoughts, almost exactly.

One of two fourth seat opening schemes makes sense to me.

1. Open 2 with many decent hands. That makes 1...2 look like 1...2.5.

2. Open 2 with "2.5" hands. That makes 1...2 weaker.

Either way, this hand is a 2 opening or rebid, depending on style.

It is not even close. LOL

The hand diagram tell us that we're south and dealer, thus in 1st seat.
Kind regards,

Clear 1H.. 2H but it is close. Change a small heart into the jack and everybody would be bidding 3.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

True if we had a minimum 3 bid we would all bid 3. When we have a maximum 2 bid we should bid 2. Good point.

OK in first seat 1H then 2H but closer. For some reason I saw those dashes as passes, not enough sleep.

1 - 1N - 2.

Fortunately we are in 4th chair where this shows 13-15 or so, since we could have 2'd with a little less.
