After your RHO opened 1 as dealer, and you overcalled 1 LHO doubled and bid later 2. The contract is now 3NT and you are on the lead.
Scoring: MP

(1) - 1 - (Dbl) - Pass
(1NT) - Pass - (2 )- Pass
(2NT) - Pass - (3NT) - AP

just out of interest, are we allowed to know what the double meant, and what the 2D bid meant?

Sure, nothing was alerted, so standard bids were presumed. The doubler turned out to have 4 spades and 6 diamonds.

Weird, I thought opener was supposed to pass 2.

I voted J but if we play Rosenkrantz I will try A.

The auction doesn't make sense playing "standard" as responder showed a weak hand with longer diamonds than spades and opener was not expected to bid again.

If we're supposed to assume the auction does make sense, then opener must have a good diamond fit and is expected to run 6 diamond tricks. In which case I also like the SA lead.

I lead my 4th best heart.

In all likelihood, I will have a second chance to beat the contract with a spade shift or a club shift if that is necessary. The only time that I will not get a second chance is if the opps can run 9 red tricks, and I find that the combined chances of the opponents being able to run 9 red tricks and our side being able to run 5 black tricks to be highly unlikely.

Fwiw, I didn't put much thought into the logic of opps' bidding. Being MP the doubler could have expected that his partner won't pass 2 even though it shouldn't be forcing.

I am no less interested in your comments than some raw numbers so please continue to submit them.
