In order to access BBO through our web-client, go to our home page:

http://www.bridgebase.com

and click on the yellow link near the top of the page.

You can log in with the same user ID and password that you normally use when you log in using our Windows client program.

If you have used the web-client in the past, in theory you should not have to do anything in order to make sure that you get the latest version when you log in (provided that you log in via the yellow link on our home page).

The main changes in this version relate to convention cards. We have done a general overhaul of the interface that is used for managing convention cards and we have added support for a new type of convention card: one that looks just like a standard ACBL convention card.

For those of you who still use our Windows client, you may be interested in knowing that we will soon be releasing a new version of that program that will include full support for ACBL-style convention cards. In the mean time, people with the existing version of the Windows client will be able to see ACBL convention cards created with the web-client (but they will not be able to create their own ACBL convention cards until the new version of the Windows client is released).

At this point in time there are no "stock" ACBL convention cards available, but we will post a stock ACBL SAYC card (and perhaps some other stock ACBL cards) within a couple of days. If you want to create an ACBL convention card of your own using the web-client, follow these steps:

1) Log in
2) Click the "My BBO" button at the top of the screen
3) Click "Convention cards" in the menu that appears
4) Click "New ACBL CC" button at the top of the window that appears

From there you should be able to work out what to do. You can include suit symbols in your convention cards using the traditional BBO notation (!S for spades for example).

The ACBL convention card facility is obviously rather young and there is definitely room for improvements - expect to see them in the months to come. Still, I think that even in its current form this facility has the potential to add a lot to the BBO experience. I hope you agree :)

The only other changes in the new version of the web-client are relatively minor:

- Kibitzers can now choose to kibitz only one hand. You can set this option by right-clicking on the name of the player you want to kibitz and then clicking "Kibitz South" (or whatever) in the menu that appears. Alternatively, you can control this option by clicking the "Options" button near the top of the screen followed by "More Options..." and then "Advanced options".

- Masterpoint symbols now appear in the list of names in the partnership desk. Hopefully this will make it easier for people to quickly find a partner who has a lot of experience playing in BBO tournaments.

- The usual batch of performance improvements and bug fixes.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions regarding the web-client, please let me know either by e-mail (fred@bridgebase.com) or by making a Forums post. Please use the this Forums thread to post feedback:
