Originally downgrading this to a 15-17 1NT opening is borderline LOL in my opinion.

In my opinion it is just borderline.

2NT

I don't think that LHO should lead from top, and difference between QJ-K-Kx is not THAT big.

1) agree with 1d...dont downgrade
2) as others have mentioned responder bidding 3d and not 2d would have solved the issue.
3) 2d is pretty wide ranging for me so must bid 2nt now.

Pass, and quite quickly; I am quite well placed if LHO has another go; take away the queen-jack of clubs, then I pass quite slowly as I don't want to hear from him again ... just joking.

I can see a case for 2NT but 3C feels more honest. Can't really imagine passing - though I do expect to end in 3D fairly often.

I am assuming the 2D is natural 6-9. Am I the only one in the world who likes to play Inverted still on after doubles and suit overcalls (but off after 1NT overcalls)?

I play inverted on in many situations too, but this is irrelevant as the op had not stated anything about inv. minor, so 2 diamond was weak and natural.

I try 3 .
Kind Regards

As you probably guessed, I passed.
Partner had

JTxx
Kx
T9xx
Kxx

so 3NT is an easy make (well you could theoretically go off if LHO leads a low heart from Axx, you get the guess wrong and then he unblocks DK under the ace but whatever)...

1NT+3 does score better than 2D admittedly though.

It's all very well saying that it's weird to not downgrade then pass 2D later but you are allowed to downgrade your hand based on the bidding and I could just see 3NT going down several if partner bids 3NT with Kx clubs.
I think I prefer 2NT to 3C but even then the clubs don't have to be both with LHO and even if they are and he underleads, there's no guarentee of having anyway near 9 tricks.
