Teams
Red versus White

You hold

A86432
xx
xx
Axx

RHO passes.
You decide to pass as well.
(The suit is looking kind of ratty for a second suit Red/White Preempt)

The auction progresses as follows

(P) - P - (1) - X
(P) - ???

How do you advance partner's takeout double?

I think standard for a double jump is preemptive, although after RHO passes, maybe a different meaning is called for.

Either way, I think 2 is enough with 6=2=2=3 and 8 points. But I do have two aces...

2 seems like plenty. I play 3 as pre-emptive (convinced by my other thread lol).

2 doesn't seem like plenty to me.

If for some reason I have agreed to play 3 as preemptive, then I will bid 2 and probably end in 4.

I think 2 is not enough. I would bid 2 with a less , so I am at least a trick better.
If I agreed to play 3 as preemptive (poor agreement imo , very poor agreement as a passed hand)
I would bid 4 perhaps after starting with 2.

4. Nothing else.

Over 2 the opps will anyhow bid : 3 or 4. And what then ?
Better be in there first. !

With this hand I want to play 4 and not invite partner with 2 or 3(if possible). For example I'd bid 2 with KJxx xx Kxxx Qxx without giving it a second thought and I think this hand is stronger: I can assume at least a 9 card-spade fit so with the two doubletons(even though partner might also be short in hearts) and the two aces I count like 12-13 points for this hand in a spade contract. Therefore I insist upon game opposite partners takeout-double. Maybe we play our takeout-doubles too conservative but I think 4 will make most of the time if my p doubles here...

I prefer to bid 2 compared to 4 as I have two aces which might be valuable on defense. I don't really want partner to "save" if they bid 5 or similar.4 is rather preemptive in our methods...

Well I hope it makes and try 4S, or I hope they mis-defend.

Agree that 3 should be preemptive and 2 seems wimpy. I'd take the plunge with 4.
If no one comes from the future to stop you from doing it then how bad a decision could it really be?

Red at imps? 4. (This shows 5+ spades - else would have cued first.)

Whever I have a 6 card major and partner makes a take out double my first though is to bid 4, here I don't see anything particular that prevents making what I think is the normal bid of 4

4. Not only do I have a 6 bagger with 2 first round controls in my longest suits, but all of partner's values are apt to be well placed on the auction.

I don't think its difficult to come up with hands where partner passes 2 when we are making 10 tricks.

4 for me. I also do not see the point of cuebidding here.

I'd like partner to keep making aggressive T/O doubles with me as a passed hand.

It is close, though... 3 to show inv. with 6 might be a good agreement here. I've never discussed this sequence with any of my partners.

2i know im only one who is afraid that prd may not have , but something else; a strong wich he wants to announce by doublung first and bidding his own suit later. If i jump now to 3 or 4 prds 4 or 5 level minor will be a nasty surprise. By bidding 2 i make clear that im going to bid at least once again, so prd dont have jump anywhere. Same bid announces that i have some kind of maximum pass, will he believe my r 6 card long, i dont know cause i didnt open 2.
Lets see what will happen.

tol, I thought of the same, but then I realized

1. odds are very slim pard has such a strong hand. To muddy the waters in order to cater for that magic hand is against the odds.

2. even if he that special hand, I actually got a nice match for supporting whatever he bids over 4

I'd bid 2. This hand is still balanced, partner may have a light Dbl, partner may have a GOSH in which case we don't want to push the auction too fast too high,...
