Partner would upgrade out of 1NT with a good 17 and my rather poor 16 opposite an average 17 looks like being a marginal slam at best. Partner might also accept my invite with 16 sometimes and then it will be worse.

our style is, that P can only pass on a minimum.
So, indeed we might end up in 6NT, on 32H.....

And you would go down, as well as probably going down on many hands with 33 HCP. You have the worst distribution as well as no points in your "long" suit. I wouldn't even look for slam if partner and I played the "Yellow Rose of Texas" convention. Assuming no 8-card fit, you'll probably need around 35 HCP for 6NT, and even if you have a 4-4 Spade fit, that looks to need roughly 34 HCP for 6NT because you are 4333. The only chance you have is if partner has a 5-card suit, and even then needs to be a maximum. I would bid 3NT, wouldn't even think twice.

the quatitative invite would be 4NT.
The forcing raise for the shown major is bidding 3 of the other
major.

2♣ is also better than 4NT, 4-4 spade fit will make an extra trick very often, bypassing the 4 card major is an strategy based on giving away less info to the opponents for the lead, not for reaching best double dummy contract.

Can't partner be 5332 with his 16 count?
or 4432 with his 17 count.
We're not even gonna bid stayman to find out about partner's shape?

Right, because we'll be able to find this out using stayman... OF COURSE, why didn't I think of that. I'll bid stayman to find partner's exact shape. Perfect.

Even if partner has a ♠ fit, what's the point in looking for it? Ruffing value will be in his hand, while he needs to have high trumps to keep control of the suit. So basically you'll be ruffing with high trumps, great plan.
And what if ♠s split 4-1 or worse? You could go down while NT makes.

I use stayman with this level of HCP when I am 5332. The 9 card fit probably plays better than 3NT plus probably more comfortable slam tries in the 29-32 range.
