Maybe Just a Guess

KTxx Jx A9xx K9x
Ax xx KJT JT8xxx
You deal all red at matchpoints
P 1H X 2D*
4C AP
2D = 4 card raise, about 7-9 points
Feel free to comment on your decision to bid 4C.
Your LHO is a competent but not great player, he leads a lowish diamond spot and RHO puts in the 8. You win in hand with the K and advance the CJ, your LHO playing low smoothly. How do you play?

Did you really win the D lead with the K?
I guess to play low, mainly based on absence of heart or club lead. I am guessing LHO probably holds something like Qxx, AQxxx, Qxx, Qx

I think I'd play A spades K spade ruff to get a more accurate view of the point layout first.
LHO probably has AQ hearts and Qxx(x) of diamonds, so it'd help to know if he has QJx of spades to start with, or if he's got Jxxx.
If RHO's spades turn out to be Qxx, I'll play LHO for the A and RHO for the Q.
if I don't get any info by doing this I'll toss a coin and fly A anyhow. Seems like a complete guess, even though uve got 2 of LHO's suit holdings fairly nailed down.
EDIT: this runs the risk of a ruff regardless if the clubs are 2-2. However, if I think the field is in 3c or defending 3h, i may need to make 4c or im in trouble.

Sorry if I'm stupid but I'm confused. I would have assumed that the lead was a singleton.

2D was alerted as a 4 card raise (nothing about diamonds).
On a low(ish) spot lead, RHO putting in the 8 from Q8x(xx) might be possible, but I discounted that possibility.

Agree with this, plus with the ♣A replacing the Q and the possibility of a little more shape (2542 maybe), even at MP LHO may have stretched to 4♥ to give us the last guess.
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

LHO had Qxx AQxxx Qxx Qx.
I held RHO's hand at another table (J9xx Kxxx xxx Ax). We also defended 4♣, and declarer misguessed trump.
Note my side makes -1 ♥.
