1. 5. (Fit showing) Will get partner off to the best lead against the opps Spade contract. If they declare a Club slam, I can double for a spade lead.

2. Double

3. Double

4. 2

5. 4 (thank god this is IMPs)

1, 5H, That is what i would bid over 4S. So i bid it now.
2, pass, pd rates to have some spade fit but he didnt bid 2S. He must have a broke hand. Dbl is close I must say.
3, dbl, if pd pass it, that is fine. I do have some def. tricks.
4, i think now you know the result of opening 1C rather than 1D. Now I have to bid 2D.
5, 4C,this should be forcing. 6N is not out yet.

1. 7H. Live a little.
2. Pass
3. Double
4. I opened 1D. Having mis-sorted my hand I now bid 2H.
5. 4C. Even if it were matchpoints.

#1. 3 assuming partner will not take this as natural given the double
#2. Double
#3. Double or 4 if not playing micheals
#4. Scratch, as above
#5. 3NT - partner should pass with the majors so 3 is nat, but how good is his hand? no way to know. anything may be right so i'm going for the 9 trick game.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy - but it might improve my bridge.

1) 4D or 5H.
2) PASS.
3) 4C.
4) I would open 1D. I assume someone opened 1C for me while I was away, bid 2D now.
5) This is tough. 4C might be bettern than 3NT.

#1. 5N. Josephine, allows conflicting fine shades of judgment by opener and responder.

#2. Pass

#3. Double, wtp

#4. 2 because it is matchoints, 1N at IMPs. Agree with either 1 or 1.

#5. 6. Offers more chances than 6N, allows partner to rebid diamonds only with a solid suit, may attract A lead.

1. 6H, the level where I don't know what I would like them to do.
2. P
3. D
4. 2H, the same bid that I would make if I had opened 1 diamond. Abstainers, partner's hand is Kxx, QTxxx, xx, xxx. Opening 1 diamond and rebidding 2 clubs is not a guaranteed solution to this problem. My partner would put me back in 2 diamonds.

Huh! Where did the negative double come from, Outer space? This is a clear cut pass over a 1S overcall.

1. 5. One could write 3 pages about this auction, but I'll settle for a simple fit-bid.

2. Pass. 3 is going down and we can't make a thing. Love over gold B)

3. Double. People open 3 on junk these days. Make sure they get punished for it once in a while.. lol.

4. 2. Incidently, the 1 opener on this 44 with 12 hcp is typical of the french school and has a reason. The 2 shows now a min 44m, or 4d+5c, or in extreme cases 3d+5c. Pard, holding his 3523 should pull out to hearts, as diamonds rates to be a bad contract.

5. 4. I feel like shooting at 6NT, but I'll be bureaucratic... lol.

1. 6, fit bid has no sense since the only way I am gonna let my opponents play a makeable contrtact is when they bid 7.

2. Double, what else?

3. Double, how else can we play in , NT or ?

4. 1NT, I would had opened 1, but anyway it would be a clear 12-14 balanced rebid.

5. 4, I think we will finnish on 6 anyway, but investigating can´t hurt.

Pass or 7H or something crazy. This is a read out LAW hand. We have 12 hearts and they have 10 spades (at least), plus I have a void and they have a void. Looks like a 24 trick hand. We can likely take 7 hearts and two or three spade ruffs in my hand and a diamond or two. We lose the ace of diamonds and however many clubs partner has. Most likely we will come to 11 tricks in hearts. Gee, that leaves only 13 tricks for the opponents

They are a clear favorite for 13 tricks in spades. The spades are probably 6-4 or 5-5. Either way, that comes to 6 spade tricks because of the heart ruff. The ace of diamonds is seven. So, it comes down to whether one of the opponents has 6 clubs (or partner has a club trick, not likely)? If LHO has 5 spades, then he should have 6 clubs, making 7S. If he has only 4, then he must specifically be 4-1-3-5 for 7S to go down. This is probably his most likely specific hand, but I doubt if it is as much as a 25% probability. Partner will score a club honor once in a blue moon. 7S looks like a 2 or 3 to one favorite, at least. How do I keep them from bidding it? That is a purely tactical problem relying on one's feel of the table.

2. Pass. When fixed, stay fixed. It might work out, and bidding with a primarily defensive hand courts suicide.

3. 4C. Looks like a game forcing take out is just the ticket.

4. Open 1D for just this reason.

5. I don't play multi or understand it at all.

3.
