3d?

1) If for sake of this thread you play 3d as a splinter raise of h, what range do you play here?
2) Would a jump raise of 3h here tend to deny shortness in your style?

I think you asked this once before, didn't you? Anyway, when I play splimit bids, they show a minimum opening - 11- a bad 14 for example.

1) 12-14 or 18-19
2) No (15-17 and not good enough to bid game)

3 shows spade short, 3 shows diamond short both have the same range. It is not impossible that 3 has no short but it is very rare for me since I use 2NT rebid for balanced 18-19 with support.

For me it shows around 15-17 with short . 3 denies short but could have short when you can't stretch to a GF.

1. I prefer to use 3 as something else here (there are a few sensible possibilities) , but if 3 has to be a splinter in diamonds then it should be game forcing. Minisplinters are useful, but mainly only for the hand on lead. Although it's possible to construct hands where they help you to bid a thin game where the hands fit well, these are rare in my experience.

2. No, but it's useful for Responder to be able to use step 1 to ask for shortage in case Responder is interested in a slam.
