The most disastrous 6Cx= 5C was already doubled though

Your hand is not strong enough to bid clubs and then force partner to take preference at the 6 level.
If 4nt is minors I would have chosen that, if not then you have just one bid, or pass.
This looks like a BBO Goulash tournament, I have never learned good bidding in goulash tournaments.

Agree with jilly.
Having overbid and been doubled, you might as well sit for it. As the cards lie, I think 5♣x can be made.

Hang on, this looked like an assign the blame for 6C X making. I blame... North I presume for jumping up with his ace of clubs and playing a diamond.

5♣ instead of 4N was a clear error. Partner will take a preference to the lower suit (♣) with equal length so 4N will always get us to our longest fit. In a sense it got what it deserved when partner had to take them back to 6♣, had it not been for north's big panic error of returning a diamond away from the queen.

That may be the worst 6♣x=, but I offer you an equally stupid 6♣xx=.
Pickup partner 30 years ago when I'd never heard of a fit jump and was assuming partner had a monster.
spade led to Q-K-ruff
I decided I'd clear the decks for a crossruff so led A♥ then 10, LHO played low and I detected a tinge of regret, so I pitched dummy's diamond and it held.
Now heart ruff cash the pointy aces and start crossruffing, and lo and behold the K♣ ruffs in stiff at some point so you manage to score all 8 of your trumps separately for 12 tricks.

Yes it comes out whenever somebody claims to have made something ridiculous. It was particularly memorable because an otherwise rational bridge player climbed up on his chair at the end of play in the young Chelsea and shouted at the top of his voice "who perpetrated that atrocity on board X".
