MPs, Opps are vulnerable, but we are not. RHO deals and opens 2. 2NT would show the minors

I voted for 2S, but could easily bid 3S.
Obvious 3S without the minor suit honours.

I voted for pass,as Kit Woolysey said :"have nothing, bid nothing".
if overcall 2,what do you want to tell both of your pd and opps, especially declarer? such a overcall with a poor suit only can guide opps to be better to make bids, values and playing, what else?

I went for 3, but I have no quarrel with anyone who chooses 2. It's a matter of style. Pass is not an LA.

The point is not what you tell declarer. The point is that you take his bidding room away, making it hard to make the right decision.

If you open 3 in first seat, you also tell the opponents something. But they have to start talking to each other at the game level. Or don't you ever open with a preempt?

Pass. The hand is very defensive.

overcalling a strong 2c is not the same thing as a normal overcall
in any way shape or form. A normal overcall still has hope for game
or even slam or at the very least is a good lead director. Jumping
in after a strong 2c is sort of the opposite, we are not really all
that interested in making game or slam (I think it has happened
against me once in over 14000 years of bridge). Our main purpose
is to hopefully find a fit with partner and they can preempt the
heck out of the opps in order to make life very tough for them.

This concept is carried to such an extreme that even a hand like
xxxxxx x xxx xxx (especially when short in the other major) makes
a reasonable favorable 2s overcall. The main key is distribution
so that merely having a big fit with partner is enough to keep
any advance sacrifice from being too bloody. Not vulnerable does
not mean invulnerable so don't cut corners too much when trying
to find a way to mess with opps bidding.

2s

with this collection but is we were to change some things around a
bit so the hand looked like say xxxxxx x Kx KQxx I would have a
strong tendency to pass since my hand actually looks quite decent
from a defensive standpoint and I do not want partner to go making
a huge preemtive jump which keeps the opps from bidding a doomed slam.

I am really surprised by lack of agression here. I bid 4 which seemed normal to me, I catched a void in front and what is worse, eharts were 5-4 on the opps hands so none bid on, so I went -800 this time, no slam was on :/

4 ? Even I can not support this bid Posted Image

It is a normal 2 bid. If you want to be aggressive 3 is the max you should go imo.

You know they leave double in most of the time when you jump to 4, are you willing to play 4 doubled with this ? If so watch what you wish, it may come true ! 4 is overkill imo.

I think even if they had slam -800 would be a very bad score for you at MP. It is extremely unlikely that there will be enough pairs bidding slam to make your -800 look OK on the scoresheet.
