okay so i should read the explanations and maybe u don't like the way i bid it - but SURELY 6 spades just shows spades rather than 4- spades lol

also the defence is pretty shocking

Today I replay your hand :

1-

Result :7S-1

6 says " 3-5,3-5,2-,4-,biddable ,27+TPs,two stopes in ".

2-

3-

4-

5- perhaps better bidding sequences go :

Today we can find that many reasons are not to obey Gib CC, give some wrong information to Gib !

As stephen Tu said earlier :

I think GIB is just kind of rigid in that it doesn't like to open 1nt with semi-balanced shapes (more than one doubleton, 5422s, 6322s). So 2335 is OK for 1nt but 4252 isn't.

Note Stephen Tu said " GIB is just kind of rigid ", that's to say it is of importance for us to defer to Gib CC, regarded Gib as our real partner, we probably play with Gib well.

I think this is a best bidding sequence at below .

Any idea?

Don't worry about it fitting into a specific category, in fact BBO Gib experts should know it.

thanks for your work Lycier, but the bigger issue is the meaning of 6 spades, on what planet does that show anything other than spades?

In one sentence you recommend that we stick to GIB CC. In the next you say that it is best for South's next bid after X to be 3S, showing 20+ HCP, rather than 2S which sows 18+ TP.
Both are lies. Which is the lesser lie? Going by the CC I would say 2S although I think I personally prefer 3S.

Neither issue addresses Eagles123's concern. He might have been better advised to post the hand showing only North's cards, the bidding and explanations, if he wanted to keep the discussion on track.

If you are looking for a practical solution that is most likely to get you a positive result, you may wish to reconsider starting with a double. But of course this forum's purpose has more to do with highlighting opportunities to improve GIB. Maybe if the developers read this forum the glaring holes in follow-ups to X will receive some attention in version 36 in 9 months time.

The description says both 4- and biddable . Since biddable means 5 or 4 good ones, this is an internal contradiction.
