Tweaking Cencio's hand slightly ...
1. If you open 2, what do you rebid over 2? Interestingly, the Sharples brothers (the best bidding partnership that the world has known) had no qualms about opening 2 and rebidding a 4-card suit.
2. Surely you can't risk a 1 opener-- and even if you weren't left playing 1, would that really help?

It was reasonably common in their day to rebid a 4 card major, I would bid it as a balanced hand which has its own risks.
