When declaring in physical tournaments, we never forget which hand is dummy. But on bbo, at times, most people have had a lapse. The main reason is that the dummy's cards bear the same appearance as the declarer's (in contrast to funbridge site). It would be helpful if dummy's cards alone appear against a shaded backdrop. Also dummy can bear the name "dummy" instead of "robot".

There is actually a Duplicate Bridge Law 41D that specifies how dummy is supposed to be spread out after the opening lead.

Quote

After the opening lead is faced, dummy spreads his hand in front of him on the table, face up, sorted into suits, the cards in order of rank with lowest ranking cards towards declarer, and in separate columns pointing lengthwise towards declarer. Trumps are placed to dummy’s right. Declarer plays both his hand and that of dummy

BBO's original version correctly displayed dummy according to Law 41D. The original BBO version also allowed for rotating hands so that dummy would appear at the top of the screen (or other positions) so BBO went backwards in designing the last 2 versions.

I've asked BBO to "fix" the dummy display several times over the years and once got a response asking how dummy should be displayed?!? RealBridge is an example of a site that displays dummy according to custom and Law 41D.

As someone already replied but is not visible here (duplicate thread?), if you choose the alternative 'Hand Diagram' view then dummy is at least displayed on a grey background, which is a great help.
But BBO have never fixed that for the default 'Picture of cards' view.
Not that Law 41D is all that great either, it does not specify the order of the suits except to say that trumps are placed to Dummy's right.

No reason not to do it for "picture of cards" view, which the majority prefer. So, hoping bbo addresses this in the next update.
