I also would n t be on lead against 1HX, but now I guess I have to lead the H7?
They probably have around 17 HCPs, and lots of H. Opener struck gold when running. We need to cut some of dummy s ruffs (picturing C around the table to be 6322 or 6421). On a good day partner even has Ax.
Double or 1NT Overcall

MP = x. I am not overly concerned with missing a thin game and x seems safer the more broke p is.
IMPS = 1n. If we are to reach a thin game, I think 1N gives us our best chance to get there.

Hi,
ok final rap up.
Partners hand was
♠K76
♥Q2
♦T95
♣KQT62
opener had
♠AT43
♥A643
♦K6
♣843
and dummy had
♠J5
♥JT95
♦J873
♣J95
as you can see, 1H can be defeated -2, I did not check in depth, but the heart
attack kills one trick, and I blowed a trick by blocking the club suit, club was
played from dummy, partners produced the 10, and I failed to with the Ace.
#1 The first error was the T/O, I have bid 1NT in the past, and followed a hunch,
which generated auctions I was not familar with, the majority on BBF liked th T/O,
partner liked the T/O as well, but changing habits in the mddle of a race is not great.
I will try to change, and make the T/O more regular, the learning has to start at
one point.
#2 The pass by partner was wrong, given the vulnerability, at red vs. green going for blood
is not going to make money, but change the vulnerability and Pass becomes more and more
attractive.
#3 Passing 1HX was wrong, T/O doubles are meant to be taken out.
#4 I was not at my best, lacking concentration, I may or may not have found the play,
avoiding the blocakge.
I hope it was an interesting post and you took something from it, I certainly have.
With kind regards
Marlowe
PS: For whatever reason, on the other table they played a partial, not 3NT, so it did not cost
us a red game, but a green game was bad enough, and nearly enough to have given us the promotion.
The team we played was the weakest, but it was their best match, but to be clear in the end,
we did not make it due to our errors.
