In the past few days I have been booted from several tables. Everytime it has ocurred it has completely surprised me. Everytime I have sent a private message askign why. In the few times I actually receive a reply it is something criptic like "Bad bid" or "you should have led a different card." So why are they booting players instead of just moving to a different table?
I really feel this is a power trip for some people and they like to be able to boot players. If I had the same feeling about a player, I would leave the table and go to another. Not getting any reason at all is a bit offensive in my mind. If I am doing something wrong then let me know, it is the only way I am going to get better. But to be booted and wihout any adult response is just a power trip in my mind. There are much easier options.
So, my suggestion is to require two players at the table to boot someone. If a player is behaving poorly, certainly two players would see it and could boot the offending person. This would also curtail any single player being judge and jury for others playing at the table.
I hope this makes sense to people and I hope it is seen as a reasonable solution.
Thanks

Go read all the threads about discourtesy/bad language/sexist abuse here. Even in the last year, it should be enough.
The answer(s) is always the same:
Note how "needs 2 to kick" breaks the first one (many opponents won't agree that their partner was a rude [-] or a sexist pig, and then what? Or what if the "helpful teaching comment" comes in private chat, and nobody else knows there's a problem?) So there's a thing. I don't think I want to remove the protection that allows from the people who are abused (frequently by the ones who will lose it after partner's first mistake - and that first mistake could be wearing a dress/turban/...)
And you won't get people who kick you for (what they think) is a mistake if your partner "plays at your level and your temperament" and you're now a pair, will you?
So, if you're looking for a table where they aren't going to kick you for a bad bid, just leave themselves, I have two suggestions... :-)
The answer(s) is always the same:
- Host your own table, so you can kick the horribles; and
- find a couple of people who aren't like that, that play at your level and your temperament, and stop playing in the Floating Pickup Pool (at least for partners!)

I'm sorry this happened. Being removed from a table without a clear explanation can be frustrating.
On BBO, casual tables belong to the player who creates them. That player is the host, and they decide who can sit at their table. This allows hosts to manage the style of play, pace, and atmosphere they prefer.
If the host had to leave and start a new table every time they were unhappy, it would defeat the purpose of being able to create and control their own table.
At the same time, we understand that the boot feature should not be misused. It is not available to brand new BBO users, and we do take measures against abuse. In the past, we have had automatic protections to prevent excessive booting. We can review whether additional safeguards are needed.
A voting system has been suggested several times in the past. We have noted the feedback and will keep it in mind as we continue to review how host tables work.
Meanwhile, if you prefer a more relaxed setting, you can check the tables in the Relaxed Bridge Club, or start your own table so you can choose who plays. You cannot be removed from your own table.
